The Althouse Crest, shown at left, was used by one of my ancestors. The original copy I have is a very small embossing from the flap of an envelope. My very good friend Richard L. Freed used that small image and designed the crest in color as you see it now.
The description of the elements is: "A silver star with red griffin's wings on a gold crown, on a silver helmet, a red shield with a silver lion with gold claws, tongue, tail and crown, holding a silver church, a red banner with the motto in silver letters."
The best translation of the motto that I have is: "Find a Way or Make One."
